Carlos López Puccio, former member of Les Luthiers, participated in the Hay Festival in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, where the new edition of the biography of the Argentine group was presented. During his intervention, López Puccio lamented that Les Luthiers has never included women in their formation, considering that fact "unforgivable."
Regarding the creation of Les Luthiers in 1967 by Gerardo Masana, López Puccio mentioned that he was invited to join an already established group. He highlighted the skill of one of the group members, who, being left-handed, played the violin with his right hand, demonstrating remarkable musical dexterity. He recalled his beginnings in Les Luthiers, entering as an employee before becoming a partner due to the difficult economic situation of the group.
López Puccio noted that Les Luthiers' first international performances were in Spain in 1974 and in Colombia in 1981. During the talk, notable moments from the group's trajectory, which culminated in 2023, were remembered. When asked about the absence of women in Les Luthiers, López Puccio acknowledged that they never had a clear answer to that issue and considered it an unforgivable mistake.
Finally, López Puccio compared Les Luthiers to other groups composed solely of men, pointing out that they inadvertently followed the same dynamics. Throughout the conversation, the influence of other humorous groups on the formation and development of Les Luthiers was highlighted, thus marking their legacy in the artistic scene.
